Health Professionals’ Impact on the Opioid Epidemic

Our speaker for this webinar is:
Cathy Cook, MSW, LCSW, CTTS, is currently the Lead Systems Change Coordinator for Suwannee River Area Health Health Education Center (AHEC). She began her social work career in child welfare and moved to Gainesville as the social worker in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit at UF Health. She was the director of the Department of Patient and Family Resources from 1997 to 2011. Her experience includes individual counseling, management, budget development and oversight, clinical supervision, project management, and multidisciplinary team leadership. Recognition's include: “National Award for Excellence in Perinatal Social Work”, Gainesville “Social Worker of the Year”, and Florida “Social Work Leader of the Year.” With Suwannee River AHEC, she has worked with local health care clinics, dental practices, and community hospitals in the areas of tobacco cessation and opioid and “systems change” to ensure best practices with tobacco using patients, including referrals and maintenance of tobacco cessation.
